Monthly Inspiration
This month I am inspired by Junk Mail. :)
The inspiration:
Sometimes I like to go to Hallmark and browse the cards. I have always loved greeting cards, and if I could I'd buy a ton of them! But, the budget doesn't allow for it, so I just like to look. But in only looking you can find a lot of inspiration. I carry a notebook in my purse and if there is something I like I can jot it down or sketch the design. I recently learned from my Sister-in-law that you could even take pictures with your camera phone! See? Tons of free inspiration!
How I was inspired:
Topic/Theme: I really liked the sentiment in this particular greeting card while I was browsing Hallmark, so I wrote it in my notebook, found a favorite picture of my husband and me and created a layout. This layout was made 2 years ago or so, but I still love it.

Design: I really liked the smattering of snowflakes across the greeting card, so I used flowers on my layout in the same way. I kept the basic design of picture and text placement as well.

How I was inspired:
Color Combination: I really liked the color combination of the greeting card, so I knew I would use that on my page. The only yellow paper I could find was about 4 years old, and certainly not "hip" at all, but it worked for my purposes.
Design: The design wasn't too difficult to translate into a layout, either. I liked the flower and the ribbon on the card very much. I actually had the exact same ribbon (also very old) in my stash, so I pulled it out and used it. I loved that the flower used both hot pink and pastel pink and also had hints of the green leaves, so I went with that, as well.
Typography: I found a font similar to the "My beautiful Wife" and used it for part of my title. (Font is called "Inspiration"--Fitting, no?).
The End Result: (Couldn't scan it straight to save my life)
How does it inspire you?
I received each of these cards in the past several months. I saved them because I felt they were inspiring. How do they inspire YOU? Layouts coming soon. :)
